Tashiding HEP is a run-of-river scheme with minimal diurnal storage of 0.085 MCM and no people rendered homeless or landless. The submergence area that will be created due to the construction of the diversion structure is only 2.03 ha, none of which comes under private land or renders anyone homeless or landless.

The Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India accorded final environmental clearance to the Tashiding Hydro-electric Project on 29th July 2010. The Forest Clearance for the project was received on 24th Sep 2011.
An amount of INR 46.7 Million has been allotted for implementation of the tasks as detailed in the Environmental Management Action Plan which shall be used primarily for the following tasks:
• Catchment Area Treatment Plan
• Greenbelt creation around the reservoir area
• Biodiversity Conservation Works
• Development of Fisheries
• Establishment of two primary health centers
• Solid Waste Management
• Provision for Fuelwood and Energy conservation methods
• Stabilization and re-vegetation of dumping sites
• Landscaping of construction sites
